Fordyno - Industry forum presentation

But the core of the presentation was the huge potential for structural composite materials to be applied in rolling stock and save weight, improve fatigue life and deliver better trains. Our work with CRRC on the Wuhan Optics Valley Quantum composite tram was shown as one viable solution for composite rolling stock structures, and recent developments in composite structures around the world were also presented.

The presentation was well received with a number of insightful and challenging questions from an informed audience.

It was fantastic to learn about the broad range of research being undertaken through the Rail Manufacturing CRC covering energy storage, unmanned inspections, rail welding technology and training and maintenance. The CRC is delivering a deep and diverse range of research topics to support the Australian rail industry, with potential global application.
